Byron Black, PT, Gets New Baby Girl

Congratulations to Helain and Byron Black who were blessed with the birth of their second little girl Hayah Jillian "Lilli" Black on September 16th, 2013, at 11:30 AM. Lilli weighed in at 6 pounds 11 ounces and is 19.5 inches long. Byron told me that Lilli seems very happy and content with her new world and her "ate" (Filipino word for big sister- pronounced ah-tay). Of course, big sister Hailynn "J" is very excited to have a little sister to help her mommy take care of and play with.

Just my point of view here, but having a daughter is AWESOME!

Susan and I Married 25 Years This Weekend

Susan (Tennypooh I call her) and I renewed our wedding vows Friday, September 27, as part of celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary. We thank those of you who came, and we are sorry we missed those of you who did not come.

So after 25 years of marriage, what knowledge do we have to share about how to stay married? UUUUUUH...be patient, kind, understanding, helpful, and regulate the children...because children definitely need regulation. Of course, that is what has worked for us. We can’t speak for everybody.

My Mistakes On Child Raising

Since many of you folks are having kids and/or have kids, I thought you might like to hear what I think are some of my biggest mistakes in child raising. Susan and I have an 18 year old boy (Luke) and a nine year old girl (Sassy). Why is this titled, “My Mistakes…” and not “Our Mistakes…”? Because regulating the children is my area. Yes, I love it.

Biggest Mistake With Luke? I think I over-scheduled Luke too much with sports. Growing up, Luke had to do his homework in the car while I drove all over. At his most active, he trained in hockey, jujitsu, piano lessons, and wrestling. I am afraid I hurt Luke’s school work and study habits by putting him in too many activities. That boy started making Fs regularly in third grade until the end of his junior year. On top of that, it did not seem to bother him at all.

What will happen to him (every parent’s question)? I doubt there is a very big demand for a piano playing, ice-skating grappler who does not do his work

Biggest Mistake With Sassy? It's probably too soon to tell with Sassy, but I think I am too weak when it comes to making sure she keeps her room clean. When I want to make her clean her room she rubs my stomach and says, “no chubb here daddy." Also, she rubs my bald spot and tells me, “You don’t have a bald spot daddy. That is just your neck.” So, I may be creating a charming slob. I’ll keep you all posted.
