Update on Sandy Maynard, SLP

For those of you who haven’t had the opportunity to read last week’s Straight Shooter, our sister SLP Sandy is in the hospital fighting to clear an infection that started back in June from a “simple” broken bone. She was scheduled to have surgery this past Monday and Tuesday. Sister Sandy is at Texas Orthopedic Hospital on 7401 Main Street if anyone wants to call her or visit. And please continue to keep praying and/or wishing for a speedy recovery.

Update on Kelli Applebaum, SLP

Kenneth Maus, father of sister SLP Kelli Applebaum, passed away early Tuesday morning. Ken was 67 years old when he passed away. He was a native of New Jersey, proud Marine and father to Kelli and older brother Kevin. Ken was an air traffic controller for 42 years, a job he held in the marine corps and then with the federal government. Ken was also a very handy man, and he was always fixing something. Ken loved to fish and, of course, watch football. In fact, he attended the last seven Super Bowl games. Ken had a great personality, and he always wanted to help other people. Ken will truly be missed.

For our sister Kelli: may the peace that comes from memories of love shared comfort you and your family now and in the days ahead. You have our most heartfelt sympathies. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
